From TV phones and space stations to human cloning, a growing number of technologies that were only dreams in the 20th century are now becoming a reality. However, the speed and complexity of technological progress has created profound and wide-ranging uncertainties in the minds of its beneficiaries, making it imperative for the citizens of the 21st century to enhance their literacy in science and technology. Against this background, the Master of Arts Program for Journalist Education in Science and Technology (MAJESTy) at Waseda University is designed to train students as journalists who can make a balanced assessment of issues surrounding science and technology both today and in the future. MAJESty hopes to contribute to the creation of a society that can better understand the rapidly changing world of science and technology.
